Three original video animations (OVA) series were produced by TMS Entertainment, Nippon Television, and Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation. The second OVA series entitled Magic File are yearly direct-to-DVD releases. The first Magic File was released on April 11, 2007, and contained four episodes from the anime series. The Magic File OVAs henceforth contained an original plot with background ties related to their respective Case Closed theatrical films beginning with twelfth film Detective Conan: Full Score of Fear with the fifth Magic File being tied to the fifteenth film, Detective Conan: Quarter of Silence.
